Over the weekend, we came four votes away from the United States Senate giving our Constitutional rights over to the United Nations. In a 53-46 vote, the senate narrowly passed a measure that will stop the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.
The Statement of Purpose from the bill read:
To uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.
The U.N. Small Arms Treaty, which has been championed by the Obama Administration, would have effectively placed a global ban on the import and export of small firearms. The ban would have affected all private gun owners in the U.S., and had language that would have implemented an international gun registry on all private guns and ammo.
Astonishingly, 46 of our United States Senators were willing to give away our Constitutional rights to a foreign power.

If you averaged only $30K over your working life, that’s close to $220,500.

Did you see where the Government paid in one single penny?
We are talking about the money you and your employer put in a Government bank to insure you and I that we would have a retirement check from the money we put in, not the Government.
Now they are calling the money we put in an entitlement when we reach the age to take it back.
If you calculate the future invested value of $4,500 per year (yours & your employer’s contribution) at a simple 5% interest (less than what the Government pays on the money that it borrows), after 49 years of working you’d
have $892,919.98.
If you took out only 3% per year, you’d receive $26,787.60 per year and it would last better than 30 years (until you’re 95 if you retire at age 65) and that’s with no interest paid on that final amount on deposit!
If you bought an annuity and it paid 4% per year, you’d have a lifetime income of $2,976.40 per month.
Another thing with me…. I have two deceased husbands who died in their 50′s, (one was 51 and the other one was 59 before one percent of their social security could be drawn.
I worked all my life and am drawing 100% on my own social security).
Their S.S. money will never have one cent drawn from what they paid into S.S. all their lives.

or handout!! Remember Congressional benefits? — free healthcare, outrageous retirement packages, 67 paid holidays, three weeks paid vacation, unlimited paid sick days. Now that’s welfare, and they have the nerve to call my social security retirement payments entitlements? We’re “broke” and we can’t help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, or Homeless. Yet in the last few months we have provided aid to Russia, Haiti, Chile and Turkey. And now Pakistan……former home of bin Laden. Literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!! And they can’t help our own citizens in New York and New Jersey!
They call Social Security and Medicare an entitlement even though most of us have been paying for it all our working lives, and now, when it’s time for us to collect, the government is running out of money. Why did the government borrow from it in the first place? It was supposed to be in a locked box, not part of the general fund.
Sad isn’t it.

THE ABSENCE OF SHAME, MANNERS, AND DECENCY

Shame is defined as the painful feeling arising from the consciousness of something dishonorable, improper, ridiculous, etc., done by oneself or another and a fact or circumstance bringing disgrace or regret. (We sure aren’t seeing this too often.)
Manners are defined as ways of behaving with reference to polite standards; social comportment or a person’s outward bearing; and a way of speaking to and treating others. (You see this in the south more than the north, but it’s not what it was 25 years ago when we moved here.)
Decency is defined as conformity to the recognized standard of propriety, good taste, modesty, etc. I could write an article on this alone!
Sadly today, all three components; shame, manners, and decency are lacking or totally missing from civilized society. There is a breakdown, and with the economic situation America now faces, the future looks bleak.
I would bet there’s not one of you reading this that hasn’t commented on the lack of shame, manners, or decency in today’s society. Surely, you can all give me numerous examples.
How about cell phones and babies in theatres, and they never remove the crying baby or turn off the cell phones, or stop talking when it rings! How about the people with a full cart of groceries who will rush to beat you in line when you have only one item in your hand? Or the grocery parking lot which is where I notice a total disrespect for those in vehicles. When driving in, you stop because someone is walking across the lane to enter the grocery. Invariably, if they are young people, they will look at you and continue to walk slowly…yes, it’s the attitude. If they’re older, like me, they’ll pick up speed to get out of your way quickly. That’s the difference in consideration and manners. And here’s a beef my husband has, when you’re talking to someone and their cell phone rings, they rush to answer it despite your conversation. Then there’s traffic, and the people that are simply too good to wait in line like the rest of us. Of course, these are all minor irritations, but it’s a sign of the daily disintegration of civility.
Then too, there’s the lip, eyebrow, tongue, ear, breast, and navel pierced and tattooed folks that make one wonder why they’d do that to their bodies. How about those “tramp stamps” where the female has to bend over for you to see it? I actually had someone apply for a position in a shirt that was so wrinkled it had to have been slept in, but who also came in with a nose ring (like those in a bull’s nose). Obviously he wasn’t interested in having a job.
Today, you can’t go to a movie or turn on the television without violence or sex, and we’re all used to it… Hollywood no longer has the Hays Morality codes of the 1930s. Today the stars have multiple out-of-wedlock children, affairs, divorces, drugs, alcoholism, theft, and even in some cases, jail and prison time. Whatever happened to the Waltons, Highway to Heaven, I Love Lucy, the Milton Berle Show, Jackie Gleason and Art Carney, etc.?
Remember Michael Jackson always grabbing his crotch? Or how about Justin Timberlake pulling the tab that allowed Janet Jackson’s breast to be exposed on the nationally televised Super Bowl game. Profanity is leaking over into television from the big screen and cable…and it won’t be long until God’s name is taken in vain on ABC, NBC, and CBS. I’m appalled at what I’m already hearing.
Then there’s open warfare against our culture when you see things like the Muslim Day Parade in NYC. What about the stoning of Christians in Dearborn, Michigan by raging Muslims and the police failed to protect the Christian citizens from immigrants who have no intention of assimilating?
In her poem read at West Marion Elementary School in McDowell County, North Carolina, a proud and patriotic little girl included the lines — “He prayed to God for peace, he prayed to God for strength” — to describe the actions of her grandfather during the war. But when a member of the community supposedly complained about the poem’s mention of God and its inclusion in the ceremony, school officials forced the girl to remove the offending lines before presenting it at the Veterans Day observance.
We kick God out of a little girl’s poem and we expect to be a nation blessed by God? What is civil about this and what did it teach the little girl?
In the United Kingdom, sick babies are now allowed to die by starvation and dehydration, just like the “passive euthanasia” done to America’s elderly on a regular basis for the last four or more decades. Now the government healthcare in England will do the same to the littlest and most innocent who need care. Babies are thrown away and the elderly are thrown into nursing homes that withhold food and water at the family’s request. Death by dehydration is extremely painful and can take up to ten days. I reported what we’re doing to babies and their little bodies in the United States in my article, Culture of Death. Society’s disregard for the babies and the elderly is a perfect example of our cultural destruction.
It pains me to say it, but America is morally bad, very, very bad. This is today’s society…gone are the days where respectability, courtesy, and kindness were common. Today’s youth believe, and were trained in the government schools to feel that us older folks have a responsibility to just die and get out of the way.
A perfect example is the letter I received from a woman who read my last article, God Is Still On The Throne , and here’s what she told me about her son in college:
“My son’s NICE bicycle he’s had for years, and which he uses for class just to get around because he enjoys being outdoors & it saves gasoline, was locked, and stolen the week before Thanksgiving at school during the night. The Sunday before Thanksgiving, a girl was found DEAD on his hall in the dorm! Still under investigation! He just called to tell me he forgot his book bag downstairs in the dorm last night and when he got to his room, he remembered it. He went to retrieve it, and his $100+ TX Instrument calculator he WILL NEED FOR HIS SEMESTER TEST NEXT WEEK in Math, was stolen. Think I told you about these things before, but it is RAMPANT and continuing. THE ROT in our society and culture literally takes my breath away. And we’re paying thousands of dollars to send him to school for what?!
I honestly do not hold out much hope at all for the world, for America, because so much ROT has been allowed to destroy so much of all that is HOLY & GOOD in the eyes of the Lord. God’s WILL, will be done….not ours. It may just be “it is on our watch ‘The End’ begins…” We are sliding with accelerated speed into the abyss. Knowing we will be with the Lord is my only comfort, it’s the getting there that is worrisome.
Another thing is so many of us know what is going on and the solutions, but there is no action. There is no movement at all in the population to strip the corrupt from their self anointed thrones of power. We tried peaceably, and failed in the face of total government corruption. I never knew….reading your facts, explains that which is totally irrational.”
She is so right, the apathy is a stamp of approval to the corruption in our society.
How Different It Was In the 1930s
The depression of the 1930′s left 20% or more of the population unemployed. I remember my grandmother telling me how those without jobs and food would somehow mark the homes with chalk that would allow vagrants to work for food or were given a few cents in change to help. My grandparents went to the bank back then and asked if they could just pay the interest and bypass paying against the principal until the economy improved. This saved their dairy farm and helped them to help others. There was no theft of their huge gardens, no attacks from roving bands of unemployed, no need to guard their farm in any way. The nation lived through that horrible time, and the people helped each other.
I’m afraid it would not be this way today. Arnold Toynbee started his 12 volume work, “A Study of History,” in the 1930s and finished in the mid 1960s. He died in 1975. He wrote, “Of the 22 civilizations that have appeared in history, 19 of them collapsed when they reached the moral state American is in today.” What do you suppose Toynbee would think of the moral decay of America in 2013?
Should the impending fiscal collapse arrive next year, what do you suppose those who are used to getting government funds will do? We had better be fully prepared.
I have not even touched on the rot of our local, state, and federally elected officials, Hollywood’s debauchery, the decay of education in the government schools (where children are allowed to abuse the teachers and get passing grades when they’ve learned nothing), or the failure of the family to raise up a child as they should go (Proverbs 22:6), or the departure of honor to parents by their children. You all know the depths of depravity we’ve reached in all the arenas of public life in America.
My friend who wrote to me about the article pinpointed the problems in America through what has happened to her son. She also mentioned “there is no action on the part of the American people to strip the corrupt from their self-appointed thrones of power.”
The smell of decay in America is everywhere. I’ve said it before, sin used to hide in the back alleys and now it marches down Main Street USA. Toynbee is right, our civilization and culture are collapsing before our eyes, and the people are silent. Why? Because the majority of them are ignorant of the problems and have been in that warm pot of water too long to clearly see the rot.
Here’s what I am asking you to do. I want you to give 10 minutes a day to prayer about our country. I don’t mean the passive, “God help us, we’re a mess,” type prayers. I mean specific prayers to Him. First, repent for our Nation, (Ezekiel 18:21-23) and be specific, list all our sins that you can think of…that alone would take more than 10 minutes. Then ask Him to help you and to help others to return us to a Nation that deserves the blessings of God Almighty. I talk to God in the car because like the apostles, if I try to pray at bedtime, I fall asleep.
Plead for His mercy in all the areas you list. Keep in mind that we are part of the problem and that we have allowed the destruction of our country by our failures to act. Do as Nehemiah did in chapter one of his book.

Mercy is not something we can “claim;” it is something we can only humbly ask for from the ashes of true sorrow over sin.

I believe it is up to us to not only “study to show ourselves approved unto God,” (II Timothy 2:15) but to “pray without ceasing.” (I Thessalonians 5:16-18). It is up to us, and us alone. The time is short and it is the time for harvest. We are to be about our Father’s business, and that means bringing in the sheep. It is obvious our lukewarm pulpits have failed, but we can be ambassadors for Christ. We can change our nation by changing the hearts of the people. (Matthew 28:16-20)

One of my salesmen here had a woman in his office yesterday wanting to lease a brand new Focus.
As he was reviewing her credit application with her he noticed she was on social security disability.
He said to her you don’t look like you’re disabled and unable to work.
She said well I’m really not. I could work if I wanted to, but I make more now than I did when I was working and got hurt (non-disabling injury).
She said the gov’t sends her $1500.00 a month in 1 check. And she gets $700.00 a month on an EBT card (food stamps), and $800.00 a month for rent.
Oh yeah, and 250 minutes free on her phone.
That is just south of $3500.00 a month.
When she was working, she was taking home about $330.00 per week.
Do the math and then ask yourself why the heck should she go back to work.
If you multiply that by millions of people, you start to realize the scope of the problem we face as a country.
Once the socialists have 51% of the population in that same scenario, we are finished.

Author and Pulitzer Prize Winning journalist, Christ Hedges said, “We now live in a nation where doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, universities destroy knowledge, governments destroy freedom, the press destroys information, religion destroys morals, and our banks destroy the economy.” Of course, he is right.
The day after the election, my inbox was flooded and my phone rang off the hook. Everyone was depressed, disheartened and discouraged. They knew there wasn’t much difference between Willard Romney and Obama, but another four years of a President they considered a Marxist Muslim who is communizing America, was more than they could tolerate. Tears flowed in grief, and I fully understood. Some said they were going off radar…it was over.
What we are all forgetting is that GOD IS STILL ON THE THRONE and HE’S STILL IN CHARGE! He said, “But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.” Proverbs 1:33. Yes, it’s ugly and yes, it’s very bad for America, but our God loves His people. Let’s take a look at the real cause of this election.
The Reported Reasons Obama Won
One of the reasons is the dumbed down electorate who knows nothing of the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution’s Bill of Rights, much less who the candidates are or what they believe! Nevertheless, they have spoken, and we’re stuck with Ahab and Jezebel for another four years. There are two other obvious reasons I’ve heard most conservatives voice. One is voter fraud and the other is the entitlement mentality.
In a revelatory article on Fellowship of the Minds website, there is an explanation as to why the GOP will never challenge the vote fraud. Here’s what it says, “The Republican Party made an agreement 30 years ago with the Democrat Party NOT to ensure voting integrity and NOT to pursue suspected vote fraud.”
What? How can that be? Well, the story is more diverse than one would think, and all of it resulted from a lawsuit by the DNC against the RNC and the New Jersey Republican State Committee (RSC). The end result was the RNC and DNC making a Consent Decree 30 years ago in 1982. The agreement in effect gives a carte blanche to the Democrat Party to commit vote fraud in every voting district across America that has, in the language of the Consent Decree, “a substantial proportion of racial or ethnic populations.” The term “substantial proportion” is not defined. Do yourself a favor and read the article!
Romney was not wrong when he stated that 47 percent of the people would vote for Obama because they were the entitlement class. They believe the government has a responsibility to take care of them, they believe they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. Worse yet, they voted for this Marxist incumbent president, no matter what. These are the 47 percent of people who pay no income tax. In fact, in a recent debate between the film maker of 2016, Dinesh D’Souza, and Skeptic’s Michael Shermer, D’Souza explains the entitlement mentality quite well.
In a new book on the growth of government-funded entitlements in the US, political economist and globalist CFR member, Nicholas Eberstadt, points out that in 2010, no less than one-third of households received anti-poverty transfers while the poverty rate was less than half that (15.1 percent of the population) — and these households accounted for nearly half of all America’s children. Today, astonishingly for a wealthy country, half of all American families receive some kind of government benefit.
In fact, says Eberstadt, over the past 50 years, entitlement payments have “turned American governance upside down,” growing through good times and bad — and under Republican administrations as well as Democratic — from well under a third of the federal government’s outlays to two-thirds by 2010. Today, all the other responsibilities of government make up barely one-third of federal spending. I believe it’s far worse than what globalist Eberstadt reports, but that’s for another article.
Social Security and Medicare are not entitlements. The citizens of this country have paid into these funds all their working lives. This does not count the illegal aliens who receive benefits they are not eligible for, but were given by politicians buying their illegal votes. The reason those funds are bankrupt are many, but basically it is because these accounts have been transferred to the “general” fund and spent by our corrupt politicians, who have no regard for Constitutional limits. Of course, having said that, Social Security and Medicare are just as unconstitutional.
There are many other factors, Ron Paul’s treatment by the RNC, the failure of the Republicans to run a candidate the people would truly consider a conservative (think of Nixon, Ford, Bush, Dole, Bush Jr., McCain, Romney), no desire to vote for the “lesser of two evils,” and countless other subjective reasons. But, are any of these really the root cause?
The Real Reason Obama Won
Getting down to the nitty gritty reality of what has happened to our beloved country, the above reasons are valid on the surface, but are not the real reasons for our country’s demise.
We are no longer a nation blessed by God. How can any of us believe in our hearts that God’s Hand would continue to bless a nation who murders its unborn? We are, after all, a culture of death! We have Bill Maher saying, “We need to promote death.” We have Bill Gates saying we need to depopulate through vaccines and health care. How can we believe God would continue to bless a nation who has kicked Him and prayer out of every public function? How can we believe God would bless America when she fails to follow any of the precepts of His Word? And how can we expect God to bless America when we have a President who has turned his back on our only friend in the Middle East, Israel?
Genesis 12:1-3 is part of the unconditional Abrahamic Covenant to Israel that so few people truly understand. God said, “Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”
We have been blessed with Messiah Jesus from the genealogical line of King David. Those families who accept Jesus as their Saviour, knowing He died for their sins, are the families of the earth who are blessed. Please, all you anti-Semites, don’t bother sending me your hate mail. God’s Word is still true.
The reasons our nation is no longer the land of the free and the home of the brave are legion, but the bottom line is our faith in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and His Son, our Messiah, the King of Glory, Jesus. We have abrogated our first love, and in turning our backs on God, His Hand of blessing is lifted. When we have College Students Cheering for Karl Marx, Socialism and Barack Obama, it is obvious we have failed to bring them the truth. Dave Jolly wrote in Godfather Politics that this was a Romans 1 election, and I have to agree with him.
Where are the Christians?
In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus uses a parable to urge his followers to “occupy” (Luke 19:13, KJV) until he returns. Christians are not to be passive spectators in society’s culture. While our primary task is the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15, Acts 1:8), we are to engage the culture at all levels, advancing moral principles and seeking to restrain evil. Today’s church, no matter the denomination, has failed! The 1800s were the Missionary Age, and Christians believed the world was being won for Christ. The 1900s ushered in the Age of Apostasy and we have declined in morality and Biblical truth ever since. Our responsibility includes being “salt of the earth” and “light of the world” in the public square and the corridors of government. (Matthew 5:13-14). This is how Christians prevent governments from becoming evil! Yet, we are silent!
Even in the case of flawed, corrupt, and evil governments, Christians are expected to adhere to Biblical principles, (I Timothy 2:1-2), (Romans 13:1-7), (Matthew 22:21), and (Romans 13:1-7, I Peter 2:17). However, they are not to take part in evil actions themselves and may, under certain circumstances, resort to civil disobedience (Acts 5:29). The Reverend David L. Ricken, Bishop of Green Bay, spoke the truth in a letter to his parishioners. The Bishops of the Catholic Church are standing against the government mandate to act against their teachings forced on them by Obama care. Where is the outcry from the rest of the Christian churches? Christians are encouraged to speak truth to power, as the prophet Nathan did to King David (II Samuel 12:7) and John the Baptist did with Herod Agrippa (Matthew 14:3-5). The pastors seem silent and so does the body of Christ.
What We Can and Should Do
We live in a time that can easily become turbulent and destructive to many American citizens and their families. If we want to be that “salt and light” God called us to be, this is the time! Wisdom is God given, not the result of mere human effort or ability. It is available to us through God’s Word. The beginning of a new year is upon us. I’ve found great comfort and wisdom in reading the Bible chronologically. Here is a two page chronological plan you can put in your Bible. If you know the truth, it will set you free.
Our nation needs to be on her knees in repentance to God and pleading for His mercy. Our people are following false gods, still living on the remnants of the blessings we once had thinking things will never change. Dancing With the Stars, sports, the latest movies, all of them are still more important to our people than the King of Glory, our Messiah.
As times in this country change, those of us who know the Saviour have the greatest opportunity on earth to spread the gospel…to do our primary task of the Great Commission and to bring more into the fold to know Him. This is what we can and must do!
Pray for our country, pray for our leaders (even if you’re praying David’s imprecatory psalms), read your Bible daily, talk to your friends about the Saviour of the world, and tell them what He’s done for you. Prepare for grave situations, buy and store items you may need, not only your family, but for others who may be in need. In doing so, you’ll have an opportunity to speak to them about Jesus as Saviour.
Stay on top of what is happening in the political realm as well. This is not the time to go into hiding. ” For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

These Neo-Con’s and Rino’s in the Republican GOP establishment need to be chased out of the party forever. Real conservative messenging can restore the GOP and make it the GRAND OLD PARTY AGAIN. Selling out to the leftists’s and acting like liberal Democrats is not the answer.

The biggest danger to National Security or as we now call it “Homeland” Security is the ignorant voters and the Thugs they place in the seats of power. Now, as our founders warned, Americans have learned to vote for politicians who agree to shake down their neighbors on their behalf. Politicians promise, like a Mafia “Collector” to break the hard working neighbors legs if they refuse to cough up their “fair share”. Of course Government redistributes that money to the uneducated and immoral scum who keep them in power. It’s a sick and twisted retreat from our founding principles. But hey, nobody has the guts to fight … so I say, enjoy the ongoing muggings and bend over fellow inmates in the captive America we now live in. Long Live the King!

In the end, it was another Democratic Party rout. On Election Day, President Obama defeated Mitt Romney by over three million popular votes and 126 electoral votes.
The President won every battleground state except one and ushered in to Congress two more Democrats in the Senate and at least seven more in the House. While Obama recorded seven million fewer votes than in 2008, Romney was one million votes shy of reaching John McCain’s losing total.
Although it was not a landslide, it was nowhere near the nail biter that many GOP pundits and consultants were predicting. In fact, many of these supposed geniuses were forecasting a Romney “landslide.” How foolish do Dick Morris and Karl Rove look today?
In their post-election analysis, many of these same “experts” are giving poisonous advice to a party in serious trouble. They are recommending the party move in the direction of Democrats on issues such as illegal immigration, gay marriage, drug use, taxes, abortion to name a few. Following such advice would be the death knell of the Republican Party.
To succeed, the GOP must stand for principles that are starkly different from the Democratic Party; otherwise there is no compelling reason for any voter to support the Republican Party. Unfortunately, the Republican Party is controlled by the moderate, “country club,” establishment wing, also known as Republicans in Name Only (RINOS).
This controlling faction is opposed to a true conservative ever getting the nomination of the party. The party establishment has successfully destroyed every conservative candidate for the nomination since Ronald Reagan.
The result is that the Republican Party has lost the popular vote in five of the last six presidential elections. The RINOS have given us Gerald Ford, Bush Sr. and Jr. Bob Dole, John McCain and, most recently, Mitt Romney.
As is custom, in the last primary season, every viable conservative candidate was savaged by the party elite who backed Romney’s candidacy. They were joined by the Fox News commentators, powerful pollsters like Karl Rove and Dick Morris, and influential columnists like George Will and Ann Coulter. All of them claimed the Romney was the most electable candidate, and, in the end, all of them were quite wrong.
After a billion dollars wasted on feckless advertising, Romney could not even match McCain’s pathetic level of support. He did not inspire or motivate the conservative GOP base, and, thus, lost a quarter of the evangelical vote on Election Day. These voters knew Romney was uncomfortable with social issues and had switched his position on everything from gay marriage to abortion.
In the general election, Romney did not employ the same hard ball tactics against Barack Obama that he effectively used against his GOP opponents in the primary season. Like John McCain in 2008, Romney’s kid glove treatment of the President was an utter failure. There is no better example than in the last debate, when Romney played nice with the President and agreed with many of his positions on foreign policy. Tragically, he refused to criticize the President for his deception and disastrous handling of the Benghazi terrorist attack.
Romney’s campaign was the political equivalent of a football team playing the prevent defense, trying not to lose, but not trying to win. This led the GOP nominee to disregard the “Fast and Furious” scandal and the President’s decision to give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens under the age of 30. Worst of all, the President’s unpopular plan to socialize healthcare was not attacked by the Romney campaign, thus wasting a powerful issue. As the father of socialized medicine in Massachusetts, Romney was the worst possible candidate to criticize “Obamacare,” so he solved that problem by ignoring it altogether.
Romney tried to make the entire campaign about one issue, the economy. As a result, social conservatives were given no reason to vote. The grassroots movement that delivered the House of Representatives to the Republican Party, the Tea Party, was completely ignored by the Romney campaign. Tea Party favorites, like former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, were not even invited to the party’s convention in Tampa. To add insult to injury, Ron Paul delegates were rudely treated in Tampa and many of them were denied credentials to the convention. The Romney team wanted a “unanimous” convention, but it was a counterproductive tactic as disgruntled Ron Paul supporters did not forget this disgrace on Election Day.
Will the GOP ever learn? The correct response is not to become more like Democrats but to nominate a candidate with courage who will embrace the conservative principles outlined in the Republican platform. In contrast, Mitt Romney treated the platform like it was the bubonic plague.
The quest for 2016 now begins and this will be an effort to see whether conservatives can stay within the GOP or find a new home, as recommended by former presidential candidate Herman Cain.
To survive, Republicans cannot allow the beltway, establishment wing of the party to dictate who will be the next nominee. If so, it guarantees another loss, like Romney and his predecessors.
The next nominee cannot be another moderate flip flopper, but someone who can communicate powerful conservative principles while energizing, not insulting, the base of the party. The next nominee needs to embrace the Tea Party movement and use this enthusiastic group as the foot soldiers for the next campaign.
Over the next four years, the last thing the Republican Party should do is move more to the political left, which is already owned by the Democratic Party. Even though this was another painful defeat, Republicans should not abandon their time tested principles; instead, they should finally start to proclaim them.
