Remember, not only did you and I contribute to Social Security but your employer did, too.
It totaled 15% of your income before taxes.
If you averaged only $30K over your working life, that’s close to $220,500.
Read that again.
Did you see where the Government paid in one single penny?
We are talking about the money you and your employer put in a Government bank to insure you and I that we would have a retirement check from the money we put in, not the Government.
Now they are calling the money we put in an entitlement when we reach the age to take it back.
If you calculate the future invested value of $4,500 per year (yours & your employer’s contribution) at a simple 5% interest (less than what the Government pays on the money that it borrows), after 49 years of working you’d
have $892,919.98.
If you took out only 3% per year, you’d receive $26,787.60 per year and it would last better than 30 years (until you’re 95 if you retire at age 65) and that’s with no interest paid on that final amount on deposit!
If you bought an annuity and it paid 4% per year, you’d have a lifetime income of $2,976.40 per month.
Another thing with me…. I have two deceased husbands who died in their 50′s, (one was 51 and the other one was 59 before one percent of their social security could be drawn.
I worked all my life and am drawing 100% on my own social security).
Their S.S. money will never have one cent drawn from what they paid into S.S. all their lives.

Entitlement my foot, I paid cash for my social security insurance! Just because they borrowed the money for other government spending, doesn’t make my benefits some kind of charity
or handout!! Remember Congressional benefits? — free healthcare, outrageous retirement packages, 67 paid holidays, three weeks paid vacation, unlimited paid sick days. Now that’s welfare, and they have the nerve to call my social security retirement payments entitlements? We’re “broke” and we can’t help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, or Homeless. Yet in the last few months we have provided aid to Russia, Haiti, Chile and Turkey. And now Pakistan……former home of bin Laden. Literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!! And they can’t help our own citizens in New York and New Jersey!
They call Social Security and Medicare an entitlement even though most of us have been paying for it all our working lives, and now, when it’s time for us to collect, the government is running out of money. Why did the government borrow from it in the first place? It was supposed to be in a locked box, not part of the general fund.
Sad isn’t it.

One of my salesmen here had a woman in his office yesterday wanting to lease a brand new Focus.
As he was reviewing her credit application with her he noticed she was on social security disability.
He said to her you don’t look like you’re disabled and unable to work.
She said well I’m really not. I could work if I wanted to, but I make more now than I did when I was working and got hurt (non-disabling injury).
She said the gov’t sends her $1500.00 a month in 1 check. And she gets $700.00 a month on an EBT card (food stamps), and $800.00 a month for rent.
Oh yeah, and 250 minutes free on her phone.
That is just south of $3500.00 a month.
When she was working, she was taking home about $330.00 per week.
Do the math and then ask yourself why the heck should she go back to work.
If you multiply that by millions of people, you start to realize the scope of the problem we face as a country.
Once the socialists have 51% of the population in that same scenario, we are finished.
The question is when do we cross that threshold if we haven’t already, and there are not enough people working to pay enough taxes to support the non-working people? Riots?? Be prepared to protect your homes..

I have watched with great interest over the past several days, absorbing the potential impact of recent developments in Israel and Iran. Unfolding before my eyes is the fact that war is on the immediate horizon.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu really does walk softly and carry a big stick. He very kindly and succinctly explained to the UN and the world that Iran’s days are numbered. And evidence is mounting that he meant it!
I think he is determined to deny President Obama 4 more years. An attack on Iran would be a recipe for political disaster for Obama’s campaign, so I expect an October surprise that could literally destroy any re-election dreams Obama might have.

My brother and his family live in Jerusalem – he is a minister – and a former Navy SEAL – his office is close to one of Israel’s largest underground military bases.
He called me last night which is very unusual – usually it is email.
He called to tell me that he is sending his family back to the US immediately due to what he is seeing happen within the last week and what he is being told by his military contacts in both the Israel and US military.
He said he is seeing with his own eyes military movements the likes of which he has never seen in his 20+ years in Israel.
What he called a massive redeployment and protective tactics of forces is underway.
Over the last two days he has seen anti-aircraft missile deployments throughout the Jerusalem area including 3 mobile units that he can see from his office windows.
In addition, he has seen very large Israeli armored columns moving fast toward the Sinai where Egypt has now moved in Armor.
There are reports of the top military leaders meeting with Israel’s Sr. Rabbi which is something that has happened preceding every prior military campaign.
His admonition is to watch carefully and pray for Israel and its people.
He is convinced that barring something extraordinary Israel will attack Iran – with or without the US – and very soon.
It is the belief in Israel that Obama does not stand with Israel but with the Arab countries.
He has told me before that Israel will saber rattle from time to time but that this time is very different from what he is seeing and hearing.
He was at the Wailing Wall 2 days ago and there were hundreds of IDF soldiers there. As he was leaving he passed at least 20 military buses full of soldiers in route to the wall.
He has never seen this before either.
Just thought I would pass this along.
My brother is not an alarmist by any means.
When he talks like this it gets my attention for sure and usually I find he knows more than he shares.
There are reports that Israel is asking Obama to come to Israel immediately but they are being answered with silence.
My opinion is that I see the making of the perfect storm.

Romney and Eastwood Made Obama’s Day? ROGER FREDINBURG
I sat there glaring at the television for 3 evenings patiently waiting for some kind of revelation.
I heard about how America was declining into escalating worry over joblessness and hopelessness with Obama at the helm, and I agreed.
I waited eagerly in anticipation of Republican answers to the major and numerous challenges America is facing, sadly I am still waiting. Surely I thought that at any moment a cure for our failed banking system would be spelled out, but the moment never came. (Ron Paul for Treasury Secretary anyone?)
Then I anticipated hearing a real plan to create jobs, maybe an initiative to back down the eco-terrorists and the green crusaders so we might once again free Americans to develop natural resources businesses like Timber, minerals, metals and energy products, but no plan was exposed.
They did offer a stupid solution for fixing our completely failed school system by resurrecting that tired old republican rant about stealing parental control of education away from the families of America and fulfilling a Neo-Con corporate fantasy through the establishment of for profit Corporate run schools. God save the republic!
I thought that later maybe, real answers would come, I supposed that they were saving it all up until the end where they would outline a series of legislative proposals to restore common sense in American government by trashing the cumbersome and discriminatory US tax code that is killing America one paycheck at a time, or lay out practical solutions for dealing with immigration, economic recovery, over-reach by Homeland Security factions such as the TSA, but nothing of any substance was proposed?
All I heard were pandering speeches loaded with platitudes and republican cult rhetoric but not much else.
I so wanted to walk away from this 2012 republican convention with refreshed hope, with confidence, with Joy in my heart about the positive changes ahead, but my dream, that tiny glimmer of hope is completely gone now, the convention is over, and today I know even less about the GOP agenda for a post Obama America than I did a week ago.
The convention clearly, to borrow from the stuttering buffoon Clint Eastwood – Made Obama’s day. I now know what a Californian might be thinking if Arnold Schwarzenegger were to stand up in front of the Capital in Sacramento and yell “I’ll Be Back at the top of his lungs… OMG!

NATION NEEDS A DOSE OF LOUISIANA RESILIENCY JEFF CROUERE
August 31, 2012…On the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the people of Louisiana were struck again by Hurricane Isaac. This storm was not as powerful or deadly as Katrina, but it was a monster nonetheless. It might have been the strongest Category 1 hurricane in history. Initial estimates of property damage exceed $2 billion and that amount will surely rise. Over one million people lost power throughout the region. While New Orleans was mostly spared, homes were destroyed in nearby Plaquemines Parish, as well as parts of LaPlace and Slidell. Unfortunately, the threat is not over as rising waters continue to endanger vast regions of the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain.
Sadly, there were several reported fatalities, but courageous volunteers and first responders worked tirelessly to rescue scores of stranded homeowners fleeing floodwaters. Isaac is the latest in a string of powerful storms to devastate the region. In the past seven years, Louisiana and our neighbors along the Gulf Coast have been ravaged by a series of fierce tropical systems: Cindy, Katrina, Rita, Ike, Gustav, Claudette, Ida, Bonnie, Lee, and of course Isaac.
In our colorful history, we have faced hurricane threats almost yearly, but the people of Louisiana refuse to surrender to Mother Nature. The aftermath of Hurricane Isaac will be no different. This spirit of resiliency has been a hallmark of our region since Bienville founded New Orleans almost 300 years ago.
Along with frequent hurricanes, the area has faced yellow fever epidemics, carpetbaggers, Reconstruction, crime waves, political corruption, massive floods and coastal erosion among a host of other disasters. We are certainly survivors in a beautiful, but very tough environment.
After each challenge, the vast majority of residents return to reclaim their property and rebuild their homes, vowing not to abandon their beloved state. The rest of the nation could learn a great deal from studying the incredible resiliency of the people of Louisiana.
The American people need to have the same fighting spirit as the people of Louisiana who keep coming back from one disaster after another. As Louisiana residents refuse to surrender in the face of hurricane damage, this nation needs to refuse to surrender to the economic woes we now face.
At the present time, an economic hurricane has devastated the country. The news keeps getting worse as Americans are facing a high unemployment rate, anemic economic growth, rising food and gasoline prices and a housing industry that is in a depression. Food stamp recipients are at an all time high and more Americans than ever are classified as poor.
To recover, America must once again start to believe in itself. A change in attitude is more important than any program or policy introduced by the government. In fact, some good old fashioned optimism is required once more. America needs the type of confidence boost that was offered by President Ronald Reagan in the 1980’s. It was a key factor in his successful economic program.
Clearly, this message was not lost on the Republicans gathering in Tampa this week. In his acceptance speech, VP candidate Paul Ryan addressed these issues. As he said to the country, “we can do this,” and overcome these immense economic challenges, but we desperately need a change of direction. In his address, Mitt Romney vowed to “restore the promise of America” after four years of disappointment.
Sadly, the Obama administration offers no solutions and continued misery. It basically accepts the poor economy and advocates only more government spending and more dependency. The President presents to the nation despair and dejection, that the government is the only answer.
In contrast, the Republican Party needs to heartily embrace an alternative plan, namely free enterprise, the resurgence of the private sector and the re-creation of a country that is not dependent on the government for survival. In essence, the GOP needs to stress good old fashioned Louisiana self reliance.
In Louisiana, this personal resiliency, not government assistance, is the reason so many people continue to live in a state that is prone to hurricanes and other natural disasters. While the government may help, it will not restore Louisiana in the aftermath of Isaac. Instead, it will require the hard work of storm victims, along with their friends and family, toiling night and day to rebuild. This familiar story has been replayed countless times in the 300 year history of this region. This attitude will allow this state to continue to prosper, despite tragedies, whether the government helps or not.
Here in Louisiana, we love our families and friends, our cherished traditions and history, the beautiful architecture and unique culture, our wonderful food and festivals, the scenic beauty and sporting paradise, and the incomparable musical and political heritage of our state. Our roots run deep in Louisiana, it defines who we are, so we stay and live to fight another day.
This country needs that same spirit to continue to fight this economic downturn. Hopefully, after hard work, resilience and a change in direction our nation will be able to rejoice in that favorite Louisiana expression, “Laissez les bons temps rouler.”
Our nation is a long way from good times today, but if the Obama administration is replaced, we will be one huge step closer.

It keeps getting worse at CNN. Two days after CNN President Jim Walton, a 30-year veteran of the network, announced his retirement, the network broadcast a Pink song “Stupid Girls” right before airing a segment about former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and her husband Todd visiting a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Woodlands, TX.
The message was clear to any rational viewer; yet, CNN claims that the connection was unintentional as the song was “not intended to be linked to any news story.” A CNN spokesman said that the “music selection was a poor choice….we regret any perception that they were planned together.” Sure, of the thousands of songs in the CNN music catalog it was just a coincidence that “Stupid Girls” was played right before the Palin segment. Sarah Palin is not stupid and neither are viewers who are rightfully upset at the insulting song choice, but CNN certainly does qualify as a stupid network.
In his announcement, Walton admitted that the network “needs new thinking,” which is quite an understatement. The network has descended into the depths of viewer obscurity after years as the undisputed news giant at the top of the ratings. In fact, Ted Turner, the founder of CNN, invented the cable news format in the 1980’s. The network created such iconic programs as “Crossfire” and was must-see viewing for Americans interested in politics and news coverage.
Today, the network is a joke with a team of left wing anchors pursuing a very obvious political agenda. All of the evening hosts from Erin Burnett to Piers Morgan to Anderson Cooper are liberals who masquerade as independent and fair journalists. CNN boasts that it is an unbiased and objective network that is not tied to any political agenda. The problem is that the network’s rhetoric does not match the reality of what viewers observe on air. Their left wing bias is easily detected in type of stories they cover to the slant in news coverage to the preponderance of liberal guests who are given excessive amounts of air time. Just look at the gratuitous slam at Palin, no one can seriously imagine CNN insulting Michelle Obama or Hillary Clinton in a similar fashion.
Viewers who want fair and balanced news coverage are abandoning CNN in droves. Today, the network is at a 21 year low in total audience and is routinely running well behind Fox News and even the far left network, MSNBC, which has given disgraced race hustler Reverend Al Sharpton a prime spot in their line-up. CNN sank even lower when it awarded former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, “Client #9” America’s most famous “John,” a primetime slot.
In the second quarter of 2012, CNN suffered a tremendous loss of viewers, down 35 percent from the previous year and a 42 percent drop in the key 25-54 demographic. The network’s evening news programs are averaging only 446,000 viewers compared to 689,000 for MSNBC and 1.79 million for Fox News. One way to analyze CNN’s dire situation is that in 22 of the past 24 months, MSNBC had more primetime viewers. While MSNBC is honest about their liberalism, CNN is not and viewers are punishing the network for its subterfuge.
CNN is not alone among tradition news outlets that are suffering in today’s new media environment. Last week, liberal magazine Newsweek announced that they are abandoning their print publication for a strictly on-line edition. In New Orleans, the liberal Times Picayune newspaper, owned by the Newhouse family, announced they will shift to a three day a week print schedule.
While some of these announcements are due to the move to on-line and mobile news delivery, liberal bias is certainly another reason why the once mighty media giants are falling.
The ratings are also dropping across the board for the broadcast television networks, both in morning and evening news shows. These programs were once considered by many to be “appointment” television; today they are an afterthought.
When viewers do stumble across such broadcasts, they are likely to see bias. In recent days, ABC News has been rocked by a scandal involving investigative reporter Brian Ross. He inaccurately linked the Colorado Movie shooter to the Tea Party. Of course there was no connection and the reporter had to apologize for his biased piece of “journalism.”
In his rush to trash the Tea Party movement, Ross forgot the journalistic credo of “accuracy, accuracy, accuracy.” While he is not alone among well known figures that mistakenly link the Tea Party to violence, Ross is certainly the most disappointing one to be added to this Hall of Shame. We can expect lamebrain Hollywood stars like Sean Penn and Morgan Freeman to make such idiotic linkages, but not supposedly objective and respected members of the media.
It is no wonder that Americans are abandoning networks such as ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN. Why should viewers rely on anchors like NBC’s Brian Williams to tell them what news is and what to think? Today, they can investigate their own news stories on the Internet and entirely bypass the liberal media structure. Every day more Americans are receiving their news from not only Internet sites, but also talk radio.
Americans are becoming sophisticated enough to spot bias in the coverage and analysis of news events. Thus, the ratings for CNN and the broadcast networks are down and they will continue to fall.
The heyday of CNN, evening news programs, newspapers and magazines is over. These old forms of biased journalism are in decline. The change should be a welcome one for all Americans who want both fair and objective news coverage.
