My Take – For Wednesday, 01/26/11:
The state of disarray.
This is Jim Sumpter
One has to wonder what Mr. Obama thought he would accomplish in last night’s State of the Union address…did anyone notice Mr. Obama couldn’t even bring himself to actually state what the state of our union actually is?
It’s hard to fault his reluctance. Who as president would want to say, “The state of our union is in decline”?
It’s troubling that Mr. Obama doesn’t seem to have a plan, but how could he when he’s never really held a private enterprise, free-market driven job…never made a payroll…and was elected without any real workable knowledge of money markets, Wall Street, or even capitalism?
He extols cutting back on spending while proposing more spending, completely unaware of the conflict in his words, so self-dazzled was he by how good they sounded.
Most troubling was the display of ignorance by the occupant of the Oval Office.
And most of us not only sense it…we know it.
I’m Jim Sumpter and that’s “My Take”.

My Take – For Tuesday, 01/25/11:
Regulate or terminate?
This is Jim Sumpter
Both the courts and congress have told the FCC it doesn’t have the authority to regulate the Internet, to which the FCC in essence said, “So what? We’re going to anyway.”
We’ve got an ever increasing overreaching government that is both out of control and out of sync with the will of the people and it just doesn’t care.
Now congress wants to give to Mr. Obama ‘kill-switch’ authority over the Internet – meaning at his sole judgment, all access to the web would be denied.
We the people must get control over they who just don’t care – whether it’s a lack of concern about a usurpation of rights or the ignoring of our will, these DC ditwads have got to get the message.
Their job is to protect our rights…not restrict them.
I’m Jim Sumpter and that’s “My Take”.

My Take – For Monday 01/24/11:
A move to the center is still left of right.
This is Jim Sumpter
Inevitably, the tone of the State of the Union address is either leaked or floated, depending upon your view point, in advance.
From all accounts, Mr. Obama plans to call upon the Reagan years – to look for ground he might be able to share with the accomplishments of Reagan, drawing upon similar circumstances of, well not much, really.
Reagan inherited a terrible economy, as did Obama, but the similarity ends there.
Reagan went to work on getting government out of the way through reduced regulations and taxes – freeing up money and creativity.
Obama moved to control everything he saw, by whatever means it took – including bribing elected officials with taxpayer dollars.
Obama‘s language may move to the center, but his actions, unlike Reagan’s, show a man completely out of sync with the American Spirit.
I’ll be watching, but I won’t be buying.
I’m Jim Sumpter and that’s “My Take”.

My Take – For Friday, 01/21/11:
Those loony birthers.
This is Jim Sumpter
One’s status as a natural born citizen is more indicative of the status of the birth parents than the place of birth of the baby.
Had Mr. Obama’s birth parents both been citizens of the United States, or if his mom had met the legal requirement necessary to be able to pass on natural born birth status, his place of birth would be irrelevant.
If born in Hawaii, the 14th amendment would have granted Mr. Obama naturalized citizenship at birth – but not natural born as the constitution requires for the presidency.
At best Mr. Obama is a naturalized citizen – just like the anchor babies born to illegals. A worse scenario is he’s an illegal alien, having lost his citizenship when he was adopted in Indonesia. Worst case scenario: we’ve got a usurper in the White House.
We have a right to know. The burden of proof is Obama’s alone.
I’m Jim Sumpter and that’s “My Take”.
