Avoid another Civil War – VOTE! by GLENN SMITH

There is a new civil war brewing in this grand country of ours. Just like the last one, the Federal Government is trying to over-extend its reach of power by trying to stamp out the rights of the States. The battle lines are being drawn up by BOTH the executive AND the legislative branches in DC while being boosted by the apparent support of the judicial.

Just look at the various agendas that have been thrust upon us in the last several years. Under the Clinton administration we saw the beginnings of several regulatory moves that ultimately set up the catastrophic failure of the real estate market as well as the near collapse of the financial markets. During the Bush administration we were given the Patriot Act in the aftermath of 911. While its intentions look good on the surface (protect us from the terrorist threats) it has caused an unparalleled intrusion of our privacy while stripping away a large degree of the freedoms it was supposed to preserve.

Now we are in the grips of the Obama administration. What makes this situation so much more dangerous than any other time in our history is the blind support the president enjoys from the Democrats in congress. Multiple times during the past 18 months, we have seen a brazen disregard and outright disrespect for the US Constitution. I am of the personal opinion that our current president would like to be known as the King of America. Many of his policy suggestions and political philosophies lend themselves easily toward creating a dictatorial rule over the citizens. With the wholesale governmental take-over of the auto industry, financial industry, and now the health care industry the president and his supporters are quickly moving this nation from a constitutional republic to a full-fledged socialist dictatorship.

All of this is setting up a far more nefarious problem – the complete erosion of personal liberty. When the founding fathers debated and developed the US Constitution, they sought to place concrete limitations on government at the Federal level while giving the individual States the framework with which to govern themselves by. This was done with the expressed purpose of preventing any one person from gaining too much power or control over the nation. They did not want to be ruled by a king or emperor. The Federal government was set up with a three-fold balance of power to ensure that it was kept in check. Today we are seeing an erosion of the lines between the branches as various groups with specific agendas band together to form a hybrid form of rule within the boundaries of the Constitution. This is a serious problem that, if left unchecked, will ultimately lead us to becoming the exact thing the founding fathers sought to prevent.

The latest evidence of the lust for federal control over everything is found in the immigration problem. Illegal immigration has been a problem for over 100 years. People have sought for a “better life” within our borders for decades. The US is known globally as the land of opportunity and promise so why wouldn’t they want to come here. The issue isn’t that we don’t want or need them; it is that many show a blatant disregard for our legal structure and thus create an unwanted and unhealthy burden on society. It is well documented just how much this taxes our resources. As the problem grows, the desire to reach a solution must grow with it.

Unfortunately, there seems to be an element within the federal government that would rather allow the continual undermining of our legal system to continue than to do the right thing and uphold it. Here is the scenario: If you allow the weight of the burden to continually fall on the State and Local governmental infrastructure while simultaneously passing laws that either place additional burdens on their limited resources (or tax away the resources altogether), you can eventually create a situation that eliminates their ability to function all together. The end result of this is shear chaos and would probably result in people looking to “take matters into their own hands”. If this were to actually happen, it would give the president the ability to declare martial law. This is the imposition of military rule by military authorities over designated regions on an emergency basis—usually only temporary—when the civilian government or civilian authorities fail to function effectively (e.g., maintain order and security, and provide essential services), when there are extensive riots and protests, or when the disobedience of the law becomes widespread. Military forces are deployed to quiet the crowds and to maintain order. Military personnel replace civil authorities and perform some or all of their functions. The constitution could be suspended, and in full-scale martial law, the highest ranking military General (or the President, Commander in Chief) would take over as the military governor or as head of the government, thus removing all power from the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the federal government.

It is the perfect storm, one that ultimately results in the ushering in of a new form of government that more closely resembles that of China (see Chinese Constitution). It would effectively eliminate any autonomy the States had and place them under the complete and direct rule from the federal level- i.e.: a dictatorship!

It is quite troubling to me that when the State of Arizona finally decided that it could no longer allow the free-flow of illegals over its border and passed a law that is a mirror image of Federal law, that the federal government has decided to rush to the aid of the illegals instead of performing its constitutional duty of protecting its citizens. In my mind what our federal government is doing is equal to treason. The Obama administration is now planning to sue Arizona to prevent it from acting to protect its citizens. Instead of coming to the aid of US citizens in Arizona, the Obama administration is aiding criminals instead. I do not think it is too much of a stretch to say that President Obama is showing a COMPLETE disdain for the US Constitution as it is written. He is clearly violating his oath of office to uphold and defend it. At the very least, he is showing himself to be a miserable failure when it comes to his duty to prosecute the laws of the United States. If this were any other president, he would have been brought up on articles of impeachment and found guilty by now. But this is not just any other president, this is Barak Obama. He is a man who has serious socialist beliefs and he is of African descent. I will not say that he is the first black president since he is NOT fully a black man; he is just as much a white man since his mother was white. His race actually has no bearing whatsoever to reality, but it does to the socialist interests that are pushing for this agenda to be fully realized. By refusing to defend our borders and uphold our laws, the president has now VIOLATED his oath of office and thus is worthy of removal.

The larger problem here is that many of his supporters in congress want the same thing- to destroy State’s rights and finally finish the job of seizing control of the country away from the people. These people have no care or concern for the “little” guy; they only want to use this façade of care to solidify power. This is what was at the heart of the Civil War, the federal government going to war with the southern states to prevent them from exercising their right to succeed from the union. Then it was the façade of ending slavery that gave them their cloak of cover. Now it is the mantra of social justice that is being used. The desire still remains the same; complete control.

Sadly, many people are falling for this ruse, believing that they are supporting a noble cause. Unions have sold their soul to this destructive monster without realizing that they will be cannon fodder when they are no longer needed (it is illegal to form a union in China).

When will “WE THE PEOPLE” wake up and decide that enough is enough? How many times will we have to be told to “shut up and get in line” before we have had enough? We do still have the power to arrest this, but if we don’t act now, it will be too late. HOW? WE MUST VOTE! The one right that can only be stripped away by force is our right to vote. But it is not enough to just show up and cast a ballot; we must educate ourselves about who we are voting for. What do they stand for? Who is backing them? It is absolutely vital to know who you are voting for AND WHY. We can send the message loud and clear that enough is enough this November if we simply apply a little common sense to our voting. Ask yourself this: “Does the person I support want to uphold, change or eliminate the US Constitution”? That is the million dollar question; one that can no longer be ignored.

Currently there are many federally elected officials who are choosing to either defy or ignore the Constitution to pass an agenda. To this I ask “WHY”? But really the bigger question should be, “Why do we, as a nation, continue to allow it”?

Now is the time to have a revolution. Not one with guns and bloodshed, but one with educated votes. It is time to rise up and exercise your right to maintain your freedom. The goal of a centralized government is to remove all individual liberty and replace it with mandated entitlements. Individual liberty is the underpinnings of our society. It is the very reason that people want to come here in the first place. Mandated entitlement is NOT FREEDOM but enslavement. If we don’t replace those who would be our masters with those who would honor the position of being our representatives, we are destined to all become slaves of the government. Sadly, that would lead to a real war with guns and bloodshed. I pray it doesn’t come to that.
