Hey! I know that guy! LOL

I'm not sure he's ever even BEEN to the country, much less knows what life with livestock and twenty acres is really about.

Maybe you should give him a test drive while you're gone and let him come up and do all your milking and mucking and a few of your other daily chores to see how well he holds up. Have him kill a few chickens and weed the garden and then go face off with a roaming Matilda when the fence is down and she's in one of her moods. That oughta 'bout do it. If he's still there, coherent and ambulatory when you get back he might just make a hand!

Of course it still wouldn't solve his money issue, but a farm life reality check could make it a moot point.

I know. I lack a certain generosity of spirit when it comes to certain aspects of dealing with city folk. Fortunately I live in the sticks and don't hafta deal with 'em.

Let us know how things work out for 'Charlie.' If he sincerely wants out of the city I honestly do wish him well.

While your fear of change coupled with your hatred of your own mother planet do make a somewhat plausible argument, it is highly flawed due to the fact that those who promote the 'green virus' would never destroy an ecosystem just to advance their agenda. It is anathema to them even to think about it.

I actually had this same knee-jerk reaction when I first heard of the oil spill, but quickly dismissed it after considering the position of even the most ardent of protesters. They feel that the majority of the damage has been done and that what is left is extremely precious to the point of protecting it with their own bodies. It simply doesn't make sense that environmentalists would be behind the spill. Now, if you want to talk about a BP/Halliburton conspiracy, I'm all for it, but for 'Greenies' to have done this is absurd.

God Bless you, Patrice and family. Simple life, we know all too well. We built a log cabin, the old-time way (I mean REALLY old time way, except with the help of a broken-down chain-saw.) Lived 5 years in the N. Georgia mountains, way back in, with no power, or running water except for the creek behind the cabin. Toted water, heated with wood, and I still really miss the hot summer evenings, coming home from work, and wrapping a towel around me, walking down to the creek and soak my feet in that 56 degree water until I had it in me to jump in and take a bath. Wow. I miss that. Raised ducks, gardens, hunted, etc. When the EMC finally ran power out our way, we were too broke to afford it, and enjoyed our life anyway, without it. Long story short, after we moved to the other side of the county, to another small cabin that had electricity and a spring with a pump, we finally had to forgoe the wood heat, as my wife's injuries she sustained at the hands of a (now deceased) drunk driver wouldn't allow her to continue in the fashion we'd lived in for over 2 decades. Just wanted you to know that yes, we know what "country living" is all about. We developed a philosophy early on, that every child between the ages of 5 and 18 should spend at least one year living the "primitive" life. That light-switch takes on a whole new meaning when you've spent any time whatsoever depending on kerosene lamps, candles, and fireplace light to tie your shoes, and then stumble around outside in the dark trying to make it to the wood-pile. God bless. Jim & PJ Seigfreid

Anyone with half an ounce of brains or who doesn't have some typical agenda they're pushing knows country living is anything but simple. You have neighbors who are fairly close, yes. Maybe a few miles or so away. And at times you help each other out. But for the most part, you have to take care of yourself. This is the difference between liberals who want government to be their Big Daddy and provider for almost everything, and conservatives who want to fend for themselves!
